Example project
Starting position
An international technology group runs a successful industrial plant business. In order to further support and develop the skills of the project procurement specialists in their work around the world, a series of seminars tailored to this specific audience should be devised.
Step 1: “Briefing”
At an initial briefing given by the group’s procurement management team, the business-specific framework conditions, the main areas to be covered in terms of content, the general objectives and the client’s expectations of the series of seminars were defined.
Step 2: “Agreeing the overall concept”
Based on the briefing, h&z Business Academy drafted an initial overall concept. Once this had been agreed by the client, it was presented to selected procurement and project managers of the relevant business units. The suggestions for adjustments and additions that resulted from this process were subsequently incorporated into the concept, which was then given final authorisation by the client.
Step 3: “Preparing the training modules”
Based on the agreed overall concept, the content of around 20 subject modules was prepared and divided up into three seminar blocks, each lasting two and a half days. In addition, a case study specific to the client and to the industrial plant business was drawn up.
Step 4: “Customising the teaching concept”
Interactive, lively learning was at the centre of this series of seminars too. This is why, in addition to the comprehensive case study, other individual and group work was devised for all subject modules, as were role plays. Team events were planned for the evenings.
Step 5: “Hosting the series of seminars”
The three seminar blocks were hosted over a period of seven months. As for the locations of the seminars, they were deliberately alternated between the group’s own training centre, a hotel with convention facilities and the site of one of the business units (followed by a plant tour).
At the end of each block, a thorough feedback procedure was observed, so that continuous improvements could be made to the series of seminars with a view to ensuring that the participants were satisfied with the training they received.
